Thanks Shiloh for this in-depth, profound message. Just a couple days ago, I started to feel left out and bummed because my family members and peers (except for Colin and me) easily make 6-figures. With my education and life experience, I should be too. I spent some time looking into ways I can take my degree and experience to companies and ask for that starting salary. I know I have my permanent counseling license and my own counseling business, I can easily make 6-figures. I just got swept away looking at their lavish vacations, personal time off benefits, cars, plans to upgrade their homes to more expensive areas, etc. and felt deflated and wished I’d valued money differently when I decided to become a teacher and counselor. I make less as a counselor with a master’s degree than I did as a teacher working less hours and summers off with a bachelor’s. I’m feeling stuck in this income bracket and view that I’m often tired and feel out of shape to do the work that needs to be done after counseling to make my business boom. I know this isn’t true and I’m capable of making 6-figures and have amazing projects planned for Gold Mind/Glow.
I shared this because of how you reminded me to use my imagination and what’s important to focus on. I don’t want to work for those patriarchal systems. I want to lead the way for others to create businesses the way I’m learning from you. I won’t get stuck in the thoughts I mentioned above. I’m just sharing how I recently let looking at the lives of others cause a cascade of questions about what I’ve chosen up to this point in my life. Thankfully, I worked through it and am beyond it. And what you present in this podcast is the perfect antidote and support for focusing my attention and energy on my heart-centered business.
