Investing in Women's Voices, Choices and Images (Shocking statistics regarding women in the arts)
The Annual Giving Campaign for the Intentional Creativity Foundation and where it comes from and why it matters
A Message from CURATE SHILOH SOPHIAÂ
on behalf of the Intentional Creativity Foundation, 501(c)3 in CaliforniaÂ
Greetings ~Contact.FirstName~!
You may or may not know that in addition to our university and educational programming we ALSO have a not-for-profit in the state of California. Today the invitation is clear, I am inviting you to participate by investing in women's voices, choices and images because it matters.Â
Women make up over 50% of the artists in the United States but the museum collections are 87% male and over 85% white. Wow. While the numbers ARE improving, it is slow going.Â
Here at the Intentional Creativity Foundation, our Museum represented 100% women artists in 2023 and again in 2024, that's right, HERE we are changing the numbers dramatically. You can invest in our work and KNOW that you are furthering women in the arts.Â
Since the McCloud's opened the doors to the Intentional Creativity Foundation - our 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization in December 2015, we have been self-funded. What that means is that instead of depending on outside funds, donations, or grants, we created a more sustainable model and staff. Today we are inviting you to invest in the voices, choices and images of women.Â
If you know anything about the not for profit world you will know that when economies and governments change, many are left challenged to continue. They have trained people and created programming based on funding that continues to run out. This isn't sustainable and it isn't a new phenomenon. That is our reason for going within first, to serve our membership of artists, creatives, leaders, healers and Curates.
As of the completion of 2023 we have close to 500 Members (paying per month), over 10,000 women in our virtual complimentary classroom and over 1000 in our imusea app. AND we are one of the only museums in the world to have a Black, Indigenous and Women of Color membership within our programming.Â
We feel so blessed and inspired that we have been able to navigate such challenging times and to continue in a good way. We pride ourselves on offering support not just asking for support. This is a paradigm shift, so the invitation to invest doesn't come from scarcity, but rather our abundance.
Our 2023 Annual Giving Fundraiser is one of the first times we have requested you donate in this way to further our visions for women in the arts. I wish to thank you in advance for your supportive energies and resources, showing us that you believe that women's voices matter in the future we are co-creating with ALL of you.
Below you will find out more about where your resources go - AND you will also hear a message from our Executive Director, Sumaiyah Wysdom. Â
